Show Your Business Meets
A Structured Standard
NAS is an independent, evidence-based business certification scheme built for UK contractors and SMEs. Get certified, join the public register, and demonstrate that your business operates to a recognised standard.
Available at Basic, Bronze, Silver, and Gold tiers — starting from £349 per year.
What NAS Is
NAS — the National Assurance Standard — is NAS's business certification scheme for UK organisations. It is an independent framework through which businesses are assessed against structured criteria and, if successful, awarded a certificate and listed on the NAS public register.
Unlike self-declaration schemes or simple database listings, NAS requires businesses to submit evidence that is reviewed by independent assessors. Certification decisions are made separately from commercial interests, in line with the principles of ISO/IEC 17021.
NAS is structured across four tiers — Basic, Bronze, Silver, and Gold — each requiring progressively broader evidence across governance, compliance, ethics, and operational management. NAS is a certification scheme, not an accreditation body.
Health & Safety certification — ideal for sole traders and small businesses. Covers H&S policy, RAMS, insurance, training, and first aid.
Full compliance certification for SMEs & contractors covering core UK legislation and operational compliance.
Enhanced certification for businesses with stronger governance, risk management, and operational evidence.
Procurement-ready certification. All 22 Gold compliance areas plus 10 procurement-ready modules covering identity, financial standing, H&S, environmental, quality, information security, and more.

We Reward Loyalty — Not Penalise It
Unlike many certification schemes, we never raise your price based on staff numbers or turnover. Our pricing is flat and transparent — and we reward you for staying with us year after year.
Flat pricing, always. We never increase your renewal fee based on how many staff you have, your turnover, or any other business metric. Your loyalty is rewarded with a growing discount — capped at 20% from year 5 onwards.
Loyalty discounts apply to your original certification tier only. If you upgrade to a higher tier, the discount resets and accrues from Year 1 of the new tier.
Optional Member Benefits
NAS may make optional business tools, training resources, and supplier benefits available to registered and certified members. These are entirely separate from the certification process.
Use of any optional benefit, tool, or supplier offer has no bearing on certification decisions, assessment outcomes, or certificate status. Participation is always at the member's discretion.

These tools are available to all certified NAS members inside the portal. They are separate from the certification process — use of any tool has no bearing on certification decisions or status.
Smart Expiry Monitoring & Notifications
The portal tracks every expiry date across your certification, insurance, and compliance documents — and alerts you automatically before anything lapses.
Everything Current
When all your documents, insurance, and certification are verified and current, buyers see a fully green profile. This is the strongest signal you can give any procurement team.
- •NAS certificate active
- •Insurance verified
- •All documents assessor-checked
- •Workforce cards current
Expiring Soon — 30 / 14 / 7 Days
You receive automated alerts at 30, 14, and 7 days before any insurance policy, document, or certification expires. Buyers can also see amber warnings on your live profile — giving you time to act.
- •In-app notification bell
- •Email alerts (14 & 7 days)
- •Amber flag on live buyer profile
- •Renewal checklist inside portal
Lapsed — Immediate Alert
If something lapses, you are notified immediately and the relevant item turns red on your buyer profile. Buyers can see the risk — which is why staying current matters so much for your reputation.
- •Immediate in-app + email alert
- •Red flag visible on buyer profile
- •Document marked as requires renewal
- •Certification status updated automatically
Annual Renewal — Guided and Tracked
Your NAS certificate renews annually. The portal opens your renewal window 60 days before expiry, tracks your readiness across insurance, documents, and training — and lets you submit your renewal in one click when you're ready.
CIS Compliance & Financial Wellness Tools
Two new tools inside the NAS member portal designed specifically for contractors working in the construction supply chain.
CIS Manager
Construction Industry Scheme Compliance
If you work in the construction supply chain, main contractors and housing associations will ask about your CIS status. The NAS CIS Manager lets you store and share your CIS compliance data in a structured, verified format — directly through your live buyer profile.
- ✓Store your UTR number and HMRC verification date securely
- ✓Record your CIS deduction rate (Gross / 20% / 30%)
- ✓Upload CIS verification confirmation letters and evidence documents
- ✓Set a self-assessed CIS risk indicator (Low / Medium / High)
- ✓Choose exactly what to share with buyers — full profile, dates only, or not at all
- ✓Buyers see structured CIS data — not a self-completed form
HMRC Notice: NAS provides structured data storage and sharing. It does not replace official HMRC CIS verification. Buyers should always carry out their own statutory checks where required.
Financial Wellness Score
Powered by Companies House Data
Buyers and procurement teams increasingly run financial health checks before onboarding subcontractors. Our Financial Wellness tool pulls your live data from Companies House and shows you exactly what they'll see — before they do.
- ✓Live financial stability score from 0–100 based on public Companies House data
- ✓Flags overdue accounts, late confirmation statements, and outstanding charges
- ✓Shows your company trading age and registered status
- ✓Plain-English explanation of any flags — and what to do about them
- ✓Contractor improvement recommendations so you can act before a buyer notices
- ✓Buyers run the same check — see it yourself first
Tip: Overdue accounts at Companies House are one of the most common reasons procurement teams flag a contractor as high risk. Checking your score takes 30 seconds — fixing a flag can take months.
Why These Two Tools Matter for Winning Contracts
PQQs & Tender Questions
Many PQQ forms now include CIS questions and financial standing checks. Having your data structured and ready means faster, more accurate responses.
Pre-Qualification Due Diligence
Main contractors and housing associations verify financial health before awarding subcontracts. Being ahead of what they find builds trust.
Supply Chain Onboarding
Sharing your CIS and financial data through a verified platform — not a self-completed form — signals professionalism to procurement teams.
NAS TradeLink: Receive and Refer Work Through the NAS Network
NAS TradeLink helps certified contractors turn compliance into commercial opportunity. If you receive an enquiry outside your trade, you can refer it to another NAS-certified business. If another member needs your trade, they can send the opportunity to you.
You can also receive buyer opportunities from organisations using the NAS Supply Chain Portal, where buyers post work requirements and select suitable contractors based on live NAS data.
What NAS TradeLink gives contractors:
- Refer work to other NAS-certified businesses
- Receive referrals from trusted trades
- Build preferred trade partner lists
- Respond to buyer work opportunities
- Show your live NAS profile, insurance, workforce and capability data
- Track referral status, value and outcomes
- Build stronger relationships across the NAS contractor network
NAS TradeLink is a portal benefit and networking feature. It is separate from the NAS certification assessment process.
