Scheme Control (NAS)

The NRTAUK Accreditation Scheme (NAS) certifies UK businesses for compliance with relevant legal, regulatory, and operational requirements across three tiers: Basic, Silver, and Gold. The scheme assesses organisations against criteria including health & safety, employment law, data protection, business operations, environmental compliance, and governance standards relevant to their sector and tier level.

Eligible organisations must be UK-registered businesses (limited companies, LLPs, or sole traders), actively trading, and able to demonstrate compliance with UK legal requirements relevant to their chosen accreditation tier. Applicants must provide evidence of appropriate insurance, governance structures, and operational controls as specified in the tier requirements.

Assessment comprises: 1. Desktop review of submitted evidence against tier-specific criteria 2. Verification of documents, policies, and records 3. Site visit (Silver and Gold tiers) to verify operational implementation 4. Interview with key personnel to confirm understanding and application 5. Assessment report documenting findings and recommendation Assessments are conducted by competent assessors with relevant qualifications and experience, who have completed scheme-specific training and hold no conflicts of interest with the applicant.

GRANT: Certification granted when all mandatory requirements met, evidence verified, and assessment recommends approval. REFUSE: Certification refused when mandatory requirements not met, evidence insufficient, or assessment identifies non-compliance that cannot be resolved within scheme timescales. SUSPEND: Certification suspended when certified organisation fails surveillance, does not notify required changes, or evidence emerges of non-compliance. Suspension pending corrective action. WITHDRAW: Certification withdrawn when suspended organisation fails to resolve non-compliance, misuses certificate, or requests voluntary withdrawal. All decisions made independently of assessment process by designated decision-makers with no conflict of interest.

Certified organisations undergo annual surveillance to maintain certification. Surveillance includes: - Review of updated evidence and documentation - Verification of ongoing compliance - Assessment of any changes to operations, structure, or control - Sample checking of records and procedures Certificates valid for 12 months subject to successful surveillance. Organisations must notify NRTAUK of significant changes within 30 days. Failure to complete surveillance results in suspension and potential withdrawal of certification.
